How much does refrigerator repair cost in Salt Lake City?

CostAndPrice estimates that refrigerator repairs in Salt Lake City run $90 to $1,180 in 2026, plus a service call. Several repairs start at $90, a start relay among them. A new compressor reaches $1,180. Angi’s national estimate puts most refrigerator repairs at $150 to $400. Both are published estimates, not Dash pricing.

How does Dash’s $99 trip fee affect the repair cost?
With Dash Appliance Service, the visit is a $99 trip fee, credited toward the repair when the repair is completed. The technician finds the problem and gives you a flat-rate quote. You accept it or decline it. No work starts until you say yes.
For comparison, CostAndPrice’s Salt Lake City page puts a typical service-call or diagnostic fee at $75 to $150. It says that fee is often credited toward the repair.

What do common refrigerator repairs cost?
The part that failed drives much of the bill. These are CostAndPrice’s Salt Lake City estimates for parts and labor, cheapest first. CostAndPrice builds them from national repair-cost guides, adjusted for Salt Lake City labor costs. They aren’t Dash prices or a record of local repair bills. CostAndPrice lists its service-call or diagnostic fee separately. The same symptom can have more than one cause, so this table is a price guide, not a diagnosis.

A compressor sits in the fridge’s sealed refrigerant system. EPA rules say that opening that system, including adding or removing refrigerant, takes a technician certified under Section 608. EPA counts a factory-sealed home fridge with five pounds of refrigerant or less as a small appliance. Type I certification covers small appliances, and so does Universal certification. Ask to see the certification before that work starts.

What makes a fridge repair cost more?
Three things the table doesn’t show: the brand, whether the fridge is built in, and Utah sales tax. CostAndPrice puts Sub-Zero parts at 1.5 times the price of mainstream parts; the labor doesn’t change. Angi says luxury brands such as Sub-Zero often need specialized technicians and pricier parts. Its estimates for built-in fridges run $300 to $700, the highest of the six types it lists.

The Utah State Tax Commission says fridge repair charges, both parts and labor, are taxable, even when the fridge is built in.
