Draper has two water suppliers. Draper City buys its water from the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District. WaterPro, a private company, draws on four deep wells and eight streams. In 2025 its water ranged from 16 to 602 mg/L in hardness. On the U.S. Geological Survey’s scale, that’s soft at one end and very hard at the other. Your supplier shapes how your dishwasher and fridge should be set up, as the first two questions show.

Draper questions

Answered from public sources, not Dash's own jobs.

Is my Draper home on WaterPro or Draper City water, and does it matter?

The Utility Services lookup on Draper City’s water page shows who supplies you. It matters most on WaterPro, whose water changes with its wells and streams. Per the U.S. Geological Survey, scale from hard water can cut the working life of equipment short. Hard water is also what clouds glasses. So set your dishwasher’s hardness setting from your own supplier’s report, not a neighbor’s. Look at it again if your glasses start coming out cloudy.

Why do the ice and water from my fridge taste musty in Draper?

If WaterPro supplies your home, it can be the water rather than the fridge. WaterPro’s 2025 report lists geosmin, a naturally occurring compound it says is associated with musty odor. Whirlpool says anything dissolved in your water can end up in the ice. Its fixes: throw the odd-tasting ice out and give the ice maker 24 hours to make more. And replace the fridge’s filter twice a year, or more often if your water quality calls for it. Strong foods like fish or coffee can taint ice too, so keep them sealed.

Does Draper City’s dumpster rental take old appliances?

Some can. Draper City rents residents a 30-yard dumpster for $150, up to three times a year. It takes household items and some appliances, but not refrigerators or freezers. Those go to Trans-Jordan, either its landfill in South Jordan or its Sandy Transfer Station off 700 West. Each charges $20 a unit to remove the refrigerant.
