How we serve Murray
Dash works all over Murray. That includes the Fireclay neighborhood by the Murray North TRAX station and the streets around Murray City Park. Our technicians also come to homes near Fashion Place Mall and Wheeler Historic Farm. Your technician finds the fault, tells you a flat price, and starts only when you say so. We're family owned and operated. We service most major brands, like Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire and Maytag.
Murray runs its own power company. It’s the only city in Salt Lake County on the state’s list of places with a city-owned electric utility. Murray City Power started in 1913 and serves about 18,000 customers. So if your home is on Murray City Power, an outage is the city’s to fix, not Rocky Mountain Power’s. The first two questions cover what to do when the power goes out.

Murray questions
Answered from public sources, not Dash's own jobs.
Who do I call when the power goes out in Murray?
It depends on who supplies your power, and your power bill shows which company that is. Murray City Power takes outage reports by phone or by text. Its outage page lists the number and shows a map of current outages. Some parts of Murray get their power from Rocky Mountain Power instead. That includes an area that joined Murray in July 2025. Homes there report outages to Rocky Mountain Power.

How do I protect my appliances during a power outage in Murray?
Turn off or unplug appliances and electronics until the power is back. Ready.gov says power can come back with brief surges or spikes that can damage them. Keep the fridge and freezer closed. Ready.gov says a fridge keeps food cold for about four hours, and a full freezer holds its temperature for about 48. Check the food with a thermometer. FoodSafety.gov says to throw out meat, eggs, leftovers and other perishable food that has been at 40°F or above for more than 2 hours.

Can I toss an old appliance in Murray’s neighborhood dumpster?
Yes, though a fridge or freezer needs work first. Murray’s dumpster agreement says any appliance with Freon must have it removed by a licensed technician, and the appliance must be properly tagged. You reserve the dumpster on the city’s website and pay by card. The smaller 20-yard dumpsters aren’t offered all year, so check the city’s cleanup page for dates. A dumpster has to sit on your own property, and it’s for homes, not businesses. Each household can book one every six months. If the Freon is still in, the Salt Lake County landfill will pull it out for $20 a piece, and the load itself costs extra.
